We understand that buying a new or used car is a big decision. At AutoFair Nissan of Stratham, we believe in providing our customers with as much information as possible to help make the purchasing process easier. Here, we'll answer some commonly asked questions about the car-buying process. If you don't see your question below, please feel free to contact us.
Q: How long will the paperwork take?
A: The time it takes to complete all of your paperwork may vary. There are, on average, approximately 25 forms necessary to complete your purchase. Much like buying a house, these documents are required by federal, state and local agencies. Please allow a minimum of 30 minutes. We respect your time and will do our best to make your purchasing process as efficient as possible.
Q: I'm paying cash. Won't that be quicker?
A: Not necessarily. Although there is no contract to sign, there are still many forms that require your signature.
Q: Will I get license plates?
A: New Hampshire residents will receive 20-day temporary license plates. If you'd like to transfer your current plates, please inform your finance manager so he or she can draw up the proper paperwork.
Q: What if I'm a Massachusetts resident?
A: We'll have the RMV-1 form ready for you, and once everything is finalized, we'll overnight your title or certificate of origin.
Q: What should I bring with me to the dealership?
A: Please bring your drivers license; your proof of insurance, if you have it; your checkbook or credit card; your Social Security number; your trade in, if you have one; and your proof of residency, such as a utility bill with your name and address on it. Can't find these items or don't have them handy? That's ok! We understand and will make arrangements accordingly.
Q: When will I get my Service Rewards Program book?
A: Your Service Rewards Program book will be sent via regular mail. You'll receive it in four to six weeks.
Q: When will I receive my payment book or first statement?
A: The timing can vary, depending on the bank you've financed with. It usually takes about one month to get your payment book or first statement in the mail. In most cases, your first payment is due in 30 or 45 days.
